Thank You, Westwind Community! Last Day to Give!

Dear Friends,

As the first phase of the Camp Westwind Recovery Fund campaign comes to a close today, we want to thank first and foremost – the almost 700 individuals and foundations who made a charitable contribution to help Westwind through the last several months.

If you have yet to make a donation, or would like to make an additional gift, there is still time! Make a donation today before 12 am PST to be counted toward the campaign.

After today, you can still easily make your donations online at our regular site: www.westwind.org/donate.

We are incredibly appreciative of all who called or emailed to check on us, volunteered, bought a t-shirt, or shared our call for help with friends and family.

Many of you donated your camp fees or allowed us to convert them to future credits to come to camp next year. This investment of support allowed us to keep Westwind from facing the sudden possibility of immediate closure. Some even took advantage of the opportunity to come to Westwind in a different way this summer by renting a cabin with your family for a unique social distancing retreat. (September dates are still available!)

All of these efforts collectively has kept the magic of Westwind alive, and our doors open, and quite literally, kept the lights on at Wilson Lodge. There is certainly a long road of recovery still ahead, and we are still fighting each day for Westwind’s future. With your continued support we believe we can weather this storm, and look to a bright future of summer camp, outdoor school programs, educational workshops, and welcome again the many families, schools, and groups that hope to enjoy time together at Westwind in the future.

I believe as a community we are stronger than ever, and we must remain continually committed to our values of environmental stewardship, equity and inclusion, and our health and safety as we continue to work through this phase in Westwind’s history; to ensure that future generations can experience this special place we are fighting so hard to protect.

Thank you for your continued support,

Westwind’s mission is to conserve the Westwind site in perpetuity; foster life-changing outdoor experiences for all children, families and groups; and promote environmental stewardship as a basis for sustainable living.

We dream that all children have access to wild and undeveloped landscapes and are allowed to discover the interconnection, complexity and splendor of living in balance with natural systems.

Westwind’s future success relies on being a leader in getting all children outside, connected to nature and nurtured by the wisdom of many cultures, backgrounds, places and generations.
