Youth and Families Receive Generous Gift!

The first day of spring ushered in daffodils, scattered showers and a generous gift from long-time donor, Virginia (shown here on a visit to camp in 2014). The surprise donation was for Westwind’s Campership Endowment and for direct Camperships for this upcoming 2017 summer. “Camperships” are financial aid awards that Westwind gives to campers in need.

Virginia regularly contributes to Westwind and is a shining example of how generosity changes lives. Last year, Virginia provided the seed gift for Westwind’s Campership Endowment (an invested fund that will provide an annual yield for Camperships). Those funds, coupled with her gift this week and other contributions, will provide financial aid for years to come. Inspired and catalyzed by her gifts, the Westwind Board hopes to grow the Campership Endowment to eventually cover all needed Campership support.

Many children want to attend Westwind but their families lack the finances to cover fees, transportation, and even basic summer camp supplies. Virginia’s contributions, and other donations to Westwind Camperships, eliminate those barriers for children and give them an experience of a lifetime.

We are deeply grateful for Virginia’s gift and are humbled by her philanthropy. We hope her example inspires others to donate to Westwind’s Campership Fund, Endowment Fund, or leave a bequest.
