Facilities

Take a Look Around Camp

Westwind's overnight facilities include dining and program spaces in Wilson Lodge, Cascade Head bathrooms, 12 camper cabins, multi-use McIver Lodge with a kitchen and 16-person dormitory, and several standalone cabins, including historic Wyeast.

Wilson Lodge

Wilson Lodge serves as the main communal building at Westwind. All campers and staff gather to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Lodge each day. Meals are served family-style when possible and typically eaten with cabin groups. During Westwind programs, campers gather on the deck steps before the meal where they sing songs and receive mail from home. In the morning and evening, camp gathers for Flag, a ceremony to raise or lower the flags for the day as well as a time to gather as a community before the day begins or to reflect on the day before it closes.

Wilson Lodge may also serve as an indoor programming space when needed for activities or rainy day activities. The indoor fireplace serves as a great rainy-day campfire space for the whole camp to gather. The newly renovated deck is the perfect space for an evening dance party or just taking in the breathtaking ocean views! The upstairs "Whale Watch" room serves as an office and Staff Area in the summer.

McIver Lodge

McIver Lodge offers an indoor activity space. McIver houses the summer Art Palace, where campers have the opportunity to put their creative minds to work. Additionally, McIver offers a cozy indoor space to play games on the couches in front of two fireplaces on chilly nights. The McIver kitchen allows for meal prep and service for groups of up to 30 people. Across the covered porch overlooking the stunning beach is the Dormitory side of McIver. During the summer months, the Dormitory serves as staff housing and is available to rent when camps are not in session. (Sleeps 16)

Wyeast

Wyeast is by far the most charming and romantic place to stay at Westwind. With a gorgeous ocean view from your window while you enjoy morning coffee, cozy fireplace, and its own private kitchen and bathroom. There is one queen bedroom, and a pull out sofa that sleeps two, and extra cot available. Come enjoy your very own private oceanfront getaway! (Sleep 5)

Camper Cabins

Westwind has thirteen camper cabins. Each cabin has nine beds total, with the exception of Vi’s Place. Vi’s Place is a larger cabin that can sleep 16. Cabins are rustic and simple, providing a night’s sleep and a communal living feel. During youth camps, each cabin has one or two counselors that stay in the cabins with the campers during each night of the session.

Westwind Youth Camps are separated into units based on age groups. Cabins make up the Sherwood Unit (grades 1-4), Highlands Unit (grades 5-7), and Alpine Unit (grades 7-8). Cabins do not have bathrooms, but they do have electricity, and bathrooms are located nearby.

The Ridge- Health Center

At Camp Westwind, our top priority is the health and safety of our campers and staff. During Westwind programming, the Ridge is our Health Center and is located in the center of camp. During youth sessions, the Ridge is staffed with healthcare professionals around the clock. Additionally, every counselor is certified in First Aid/CPR and AED, and Waterfront staff are also certified as lifeguards.

The Ridge serves as Health Center for Westwind programs only. Rental groups are responsible for their own healthcare needs.

Cascade Head

Cascade Head is the main bath house at camp. It houses showers, toilets, and sinks. Cascade Head is located near Wilson Lodge as well as close to all cabins (closest to the youngest campers). Outhouses are also located throughout camp to serve as closer bathrooms to some program areas.

Tillicum

Tillicum Barn, once housed Westwind’s horses, today it serves as a multi-functional recreational space. Outside the barn we have an archery range, gaga ball pit, tree climbing (a harnessed in self-belay system), and a small field. Inside the barn, it is common to see campers playing basketball, giant Jenga, corn hole, or having a dance party. Tillicum has become a great indoor space for rainy days, as well! Solar panels were recently installed on the roof of Tillicum to help feed renewable energy back to Westwind.

*Available for rentals in the winter season.

Teen Tents

Campers in our Teen programs at Westwind usually stay in The Dunes. This is the Teen area made up of five canvas tents all encircling a communal campfire. This is the home for both the Teen Adventure and Teen Lead programs. The area is a short walk to the beach, the estuary, and the Wilson Lodge.

*During rentals, the tents can be added onto your rental during the months of June - September.
