Dear Friends of Westwind,
These are unprecedented times and we hope that you and your families stay safe and healthy. Each day brings news of changes to our world because of the COVID 19 virus. Unfortunately, it is impacting our beloved Westwind as well.
You will not be surprised that we have canceled events at least through the end of April. Westwind relies on revenue from these programs and contributions. Without these programs, we do not have the funds to continue operations. As a result, the Board has decided to temporarily lay off 3/4 of the current staff, keeping only three staff – on a significantly reduced capacity – to keep “the lights on” while we weather this storm. We are hopeful that we will be back to a new normal in early May to gear up for another amazing summer season.
We will, of course, be exploring avenues for community as well as government and philanthropic financial support to help us financially bridge this phase. However, we also need the generosity and care of our supporters. Please consider giving a personally significant financial gift to Westwind.
