Last weekend, we hosted the inaugural Friends of Westwind “Friend-raiser!” Former Westwind campers, staff, volunteers, board members, outdoor school staff, and visitors of Westwind gathered to reconnect with Westwind. We enjoyed snacks and reminisced about our favorite Westwind memories. We were joined by Friends of Westwind from many eras. This included Mother Child campers dating back to the 70s up to recent summer staff and current board members. A drawing of Wilson Lodge on the chalkboard sparked intense discussion about which era of the lodge steps was best. The conversation highlighted that Westwind has changed a lot over the years, but our core values remain the same.
Who is a Friend of Westwind?
Probably you! Friends of Westwind are campers, staff, outdoor school student leaders, rental guests, visitors, and everyone who has experienced the magic of Westwind. What unites Friends of Westwind is a passion for our wild forest and sandy beaches. Friends of Westwind is a reminder that no matter where you are, Westwind will always be a part of you. Westwind continues to shape lives and create wide-reaching impacts. Becoming a Friend of Westwind means you will be a steward who shares the Westwind experience with the next generation.
How can you get involved?
In 2025, we will be holding regular friend-raising events. We invite you to sign up for our mailing list to be notified of upcoming events and participate in the Westwind community. You will also receive a monthly newsletter that highlights the amazing work we do all year round.
The theme of 2025 is reconnection. When it comes time to RSVP for our next Friend-raiser, text a friend or email a former coworker or cabinmate. Invite them to join you and connect with Westwind. You can help us grow the Westwind community by reconnecting its former visitors to the incredible work we are doing now.
