Do you want to be a life-changing summer staff member on the beach? Are you hoping to apply for our Teen Leadership 2 program so you can take your leadership and outdoor skills to the next level? Interested in being an amazing Westwind Teen Apprentice and experiencing camp from a new perspective? If so, we are excited to announce that our applications for Summer 2021 are open starting this Friday, January, 15th! We know that camp might look a little bit different this summer, and we will keep you updated with more information on what to expect as the summer draws closer. We will continue to align with statewide guidance in order to create a safe camp experience for all campers and staff. We are hiring for 2021 summer staff positions! Working at Westwind is a rewarding and demanding summer job. You will learn what it means to live and work in a close-knit community who by the end of the summer will likely feel like family. If you are willing to work hard, play hard, put others first and experience and appreciate the beautiful outdoors for a whole summer, Camp Westwind might be the right place for you. We highly value the commitment you make to working at camp. The camp season begins June 10th with staff training and ends August 19th with cleanup ending on August 25th (please see 2021 Camp Calendar with specific session details). We expect staff members to be available during the entirety of the camp season, unless otherwise approved by the Program Director. We are accepting applications until our positions are filled. The Teen Leadership 2 program will be during Sessions 6 (August 8-13, 2021) and 7 (August 14-19, 2021). *For 2021 Applicants: If you were not able to complete Teen Leadership 1 due to 2020 cancellations, no worries! You are still eligible to apply for Teen Leadership 2 for 2021. In your interview, you will be asked to demonstrate some leadership skills and experience. This two week program is a wonderful opportunity to enhance and develop self-confidence, self-awareness, communication skills, tolerance for adversity, and a personal leadership style. This is an endless opportunity to be challenged, to practice your leadership and use your creativity, to be a positive role model, and to make new friends. Good luck! *While completing the Teen Lead 2 program is not a requirement to one day become a Westwind staff, it provides you with helpful and meaningful skills. Teen Apprentice Program For one session of camp, get a hands-on glimpse of what working at camp is all about. On the first day of the session sit with the Teen Apprentice Coordinator and develop your schedule for the week based on your program interests. Teen Apprentices have a choice between shadowing waterfront, naturalist, arts & crafts, media & technology, and special camp programming. Apprentices will also have time to shadow a cabin counselor to gain experience working with children and facilitating activities. To become a Teen Apprentice, you must first apply to participate in a brief screening, and then you must be invited to register. From there, you can choose your session.
